Resistance exercise obviously has much more to offer than just size and strength increase. While increased lean muscle from heavy intense resistance training causes a desirable increase in metabolism and lost body fat. There is also a tremendous weight management benefit to performing two to three weight training workouts per week.

When the muscle tissue’s energy stores have been depleted during resistance exercise, the replacement of these stores becomes a priority to the body. Basically, on a proper diet, adipose tissues are drawn from to replace exhausted muscle stores. This decreases the fat weight and increases the muscle weight.

The key to resistance exercise, and this fat conversion, is to perform medium to high rep, medium intensity, long duration, and frequent exercise using basic compound movements involving as much muscle as possible to maximize the depletion of energy, promoting a greater recovery fat release during repletion.

Ok, what does that really mean?

Big movements such as the presses, compound leg exercises such as leg press, compound barbell and dumbbells exercises.

If budget allows then some cardio would be great to add variety and work purely on the cardio vascular system.

It may look enticing to go cheap now but when your treadmills break down and the manufacturers won’t cover you when they find out that the units went into a commercial gym then the members may beginning to cancel their memberships.
